Our Story and History

Welcome to our site we hope you enjoy your visit

We are Shewah Malamutes. We have had malamutes for 35 years we got our first malamute in 1993 after 3 years of research on this breed. Our first  Malamute was Diomede Mai Scimitah, (Shimmie) who is also our foundation bitch.. About a year later Diomede Kennels  offered us a handsome 14 month old   wolf grey    Malamute named Diomede Grey Eagle (Eagle) which got Sheryl into showing .After a couple of months we were offended him to keep. We jumped   at the chance. So    Eagle had his first long trip in the back of a car to Geraldton his new home. Eagle was a slow starter he didn't win much but at 18 months old  (just after he came  to live with us) he was unstoppable. Within 12 months he had his Australian title finishing with a 16 point challenge. We were offered to           purchase a 3 year old     American Champion wolf grey male named Am.CH Cheysuli's First Lir (IMP USA) (Corbin) from Vicky Jones of Vykon Kennels in     Georgia America. Which   after careful thought we decided to take him. So 5 months and a lot of emails to and from Vicky he arrived in Perth quarantine. Sheryl went to meet the new  addition to our family. Four weeks later Sheryl and the girls were on their way to pick him up . Five hours after picking him up he was in his new home in Geraldton.

February of 1999 Eagle and Shimmie became parents to 8 beautiful healthy babies. They had 3 girls 2 wolf grey, 1 black and 5 boys 2 wolf grey, 2 seals and a black. At 12 weeks (3 months) they went to their new homes. We kept two of the bitches Shewah Ka Wag Puk Puna and Shewah Shoo Lay Puna . These two are now in the show ring and one Shewah Wookie is in a dog team (in Queensland). All the others went to happy pet homes.

In September 2000 we all moved south to Gwindinup (near Boyanup in the South West of Western Australia)

Having relocated to Gwindinup we have had to spend some time getting sorted out and organizing the kennels, whelping  and exercise area.

It took some time and this year we got back on track with a litter from Corbin and Georgia 4 girls and 4 boys.

We are now settling down to breeding some new stock and better our lines as this is and has always been our aim.

 Wally

Wally showed Shimmie for 3years but due to Shimmie being unable to show  he now stewards at the shows and is a member of the stewards association. He occasionally helps show Corbin or holds dogs for us while we are in the ring.

 Sheryl

Sheryl started in 1989 with an Australian cattle dog x bull terrier doing obedience. She became an Instructor and has been involved since 1989 .When we got Shimmie she started training her for obedience. She was later offered Eagle to show .This was the start of her experiences in the show ring. When we bought in Corbin she then started showing him and has continued showing them both along with various other dogs. With the arrival of Corbin's latest litter Sheryl has taken Sullie into the ring .

 Mandy

Amanda started to showing in senior junior handlers in 1998 with an Akita named Kulhua. After she was retied she was asked to help show 2 Samoyeds named Sunmist Kid with Class and Pearlene Simba in the championship show and was asked to train another Samoyed named Taylor in obedience. Amanda did not have a dog to show for a while when the owner took over the dogs again until on the 24th of April when Sheryl gave her a beautiful wolf grey bitch named Shewah Ka Wag Puk Puna (Eaglett) from Shimmies litter.  Amanda  spent  her spare time with Eaglett training and showing her . Amanda has shown all sorts of breeds of dogs including Pugs Golden Retrievers, Rottweilers, Alaskan Malamutes, Samoyeds, Akitas and Chow Chows. Amanda was invited to participate in Junior Handlers in the state finals in Perth. She took an Alaskan malamute named CH Vykon’s Modoc of Diomede (imp USA). Mandy then  campained Precious (a Corbin daughter). Mandy's latest challenge is to show Diomede Razzamatazz (Razzie). Mandy also helps people with a range of breeds by either showing or holding their dogs.

 Dannie

Dannielle started showing junior handlers 1993 when she was 7. The first dog she handled was Shimmie and had so much fun she became a regular in junior handlers. Dannie showed sorts of breeds such as Alaskan Malamutes, Bullmastiffs, Old English Sheepdog, Rottweilers, Shiba Inus, Golden Retrievers, and Samoyeds. She has also trained Bullmastiffs, Golden Retrievers and Alaskan Malamutes. Dannie was asked to show a Golden Retriever on a regular bases in the championship shows. She was asked to show Fairyring Amethyst Bell (Bella). Which she helped title. Bella was then retired to have puppies and Dannie was asked to show two brothers in that litter, first Fairyring Ash Lee then when he was sold she was asked to show Fairyring Bach Lee then he was sold and Dannie went back to showing Bella. 6 months later Bella was bred again and Dannie was asked to show a bitch from that litter named Fairyring Western Wisper for a while until the owner wanted to show her themselves. So Dannie had no dog to show until on the 24th April she was given the best present Sheryl gave her a beautiful wolf grey bitch named Shewah Shoo Lay Puna (Mulan) a sister to Eaglett. Dannie and Mulan spent most of their spare time with each other doing training and showing in the shows. Dannie now shows Shiba Inus and helps people with a range of breeds by either showing or holding their dogs. Dannie has now started to campaign Diomede Bannock (Nockie)
